Black-headed ants

Tapinoma melanocephalum

Appearance:

The head is black, giving it its name, while the abdomen is pale and the legs are transparent. It is 1.6 mm in size.

Reproduction:

It constantly reproduces itself.

Way of life:

It prefers sweet and fatty foods.
In nature, honeydew and the sweet excretions of butterfly caterpillars are on its menu. They build their nests in corners and wall cavities, but also in flower pots or under tree bark and loose boards. They need moisture and are therefore often found under kitchen units and in bathrooms.
