Ctenocephalides felis

Appearance:

The body appears laterally compressed and, at a size of 2-3 mm, has very strong hind legs, with two spine combs on the head and neck that distinguish it from other flea species.

Reproduction:

It lives for 2 weeks to 8 months and develops in the course of complete metamorphosis from an egg to a full insect.

Way of life:

It decides on the suitability of a host after the bite. It nests close to the host animal and also gives birth to its offspring there. For example, it reacts to vibrations, pressure and heat, as well as noise and carbon dioxide. A pure diet of human blood is not conducive to its development.
