The 6-legged ant is 3 mm in size and dark brown to black in color. It has a double spine, two short spines on the thoracic region and grooves on the head and chest.
It has 12-segmented antennae with three-part antlers.

Reproduction:

The common lawn ant usually mates in spring and summer. High outside temperatures favor year-round mating.

Way of life:

It is considered omnivorous and is mainly nocturnal. It enters houses through cable ducts and pipes as well as through cracks and crevices. They build their nests under stones and in wood and like to settle near foundations and water.
