Common wood cockroach

Adult males reach a size of 9-11 mm. The females are significantly smaller at 6-8 mm. Both sexes have a dark gray to brown body, whereby the pronotum of the male and the abdomen of the female are significantly darker than the rest of the body.

Reproduction:

The female carries her oothecae around with her for about 2 weeks between June and September. They are then deposited on the ground and overwinter. In spring, the nymphs hatch, which are fully grown in July and die as adults between September and October.

Way of life:

Common wood cockroaches live on the ground, preferring undergrowth, pastures and forests. The males fly in warm temperatures.
