Fragrant house ants

Appearance:

With a size of 1.5-3 mm and brown to black coloration, the 6-legged fragrant house ant is present. It has 12-segmented antennae without antlers.

Reproduction:

It lives for many years and goes through a development phase of 34-38 days.

Way of life:

It eats all types of food, preferring sweet foods and fruit.
But it doesn’t stop at animal food either. A warm and humid climate is the ideal habitat for the fragrant house ant, which is why it can be found in plants, but also under toilet lids. When crushed, it emits a coconut-like odor. Up to 10,000 ants of this species live in a colony.
