Human fleas

Pulex irritans

Appearance:

Pest exterminators Switzerland - Pest control in Switzerland

Black to brown in color, no wings and only 1-4 mm in size, this is a small flea. The long and thin proboscis is used to pierce the skin and suck blood. It jumps up and moves quickly.

Reproduction:

The flea lays between 4-8 eggs after each meal, so that it produces several hundred offspring over its entire lifetime.

Way of life:

A flea prefers to bite on the legs. But it doesn’t just bite once, but 2-3 times in succession. As they have changing hosts, they can transmit diseases. Human fleas also bite dogs, rats, pigs, deer and foxes and can therefore also pass from these host animals to humans.
