Norway rats

Rattus norvegicus

Appearance:

With a size of up to 40 cm and a weight of up to 500 g, the Norway rat is a large pest rodent. It has a blunt nose, small ears and a compact build.

Reproduction:

The gestation period is 3 weeks, whereby 3-6 litters per year with up to 8 young per litter are possible. Sexual maturity occurs at 10 weeks.

Way of life:

Although it can climb, it prefers to live on the ground and loves sewers. It feeds mainly on grain and drinks up to 60 ml per day.
