Red-backed voles

Clethrionomys glareolus

Appearance:

The body length is 80-120 mm, whereby the tail reaches up to 60 cm and the bank vole is one of the lighter representatives with a weight of 15-40g. Adult bank voles are rust-brown, young animals are more gray-brown. The white to beige-colored belly fur, the small eyes and ears, as well as the blunt nose are striking.

Reproduction:

From March to October, 4 young are born per litter, which are weaned after about 18 days. The lifespan is 12-18 months.

Way of life:

The red-backed vole, which is active both day and night, prefers to live in wooded areas and hedgerows.
